Debbie has been an active member of the First United Church Sherkston family for over 30+ years, when she began attending in preparation for her own Confirmation classes. Since then, she has shared her love of music by offering her music skills for many years. Debbie became a Licensed Lay Worship Leader (LLWL) with the United Church of Canada after she offered to share a message with the congregation on a Sunday when the regular Minister was on holidays and a replacement was just not available, over 20 years ago.
Debbie is a long-time resident of the Sherkston-Ridgeway community. She is a retired Secondary School Teacher with the District School Board of Niagara, having served most of her 26 years working as a Family Studies Teacher at Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School, where she had an opportunity to teach and impact the lives of thousands of young people throughout her career.
She shares that her passions include: learning about God and trying to walk with Him daily; serving her church in whatever capacity she is needed; working with and serving others both within the church and the community at large; enjoying the great outdoors and gardening; cooking and baking; and reading on her front porch with a good cup of tea.
